Glynis Wright is the founder of Glynis Wright & Co and is the Head of Practice. Glynis decided to retrain as a lawyer when she was nearly 40. Prior to that, she had pursued a successful career in local government, most latterly in the field of economic development.
She returned to University as a mature student and undertook a conversion degree course at De Montfort University in Leicester followed by the Legal Practices Course. She completed the LPC with multiple Distinctions and was awarded the special status of Student of the Year by the Law Society nationally for having achieved the highest marks for her academic year over 3 campuses.
Glynis completed her practical training as a Solicitor with a long standing Leicester based firm and specialised in family law from the outset. At the time she joined the firm, it handled a small number of private family law cases. Within 2 years, Glynis had grown the department to a large case load specialising in private divorce and finance settlements, contested contact and residence cases involving children (now called Child Arrangements Orders), pre and post nuptial agreements and cohabitation breakups.
Within 2 years of qualifying as a Solicitor in 2003, Glynis was invited to become a Partner in the firm running the family law department. Such rapid progression is extremely rare in the legal profession and says much about the regard in which Glynis was held within the firm. Around 90% of Glynis’ work comes from word of mouth recommendations. Her reputation is founded on a total commitment to her clients and a high standard of service delivery. Her philosophy is to ease the anxiety and turmoil of divorce and relationship breakups by being approachable and friendly whilst offering the best legal advice to her clients. Glynis has built up considerable expertise in taking instructions from high net worth clients with complex business and personal assets and works closely in partnership with local and London based specialist Barristers to deliver top quality legal services for her clients.
Glynis believes that dispute should be resolved by negotiation rather than court proceedings where possible and is aware that protracted proceedings represent a cost to her clients emotionally and financially. She does all that she can to settle matters swiftly and without acrimony for her clients.
In line with this philosophy, Glynis decided to add to her repertoire by training as a family mediator. She qualified as a mediator with Resolution in May 2010 and has been accepting mediation referrals from members of the public and from other family lawyers whose clients wish to mediate ever since. Glynis had anticipated in 2010 that family mediation would be heralded as the best way forward for families in crises due to marital or cohabitation break ups, and so it has transpired to be since mediation has received full government backing with a protocol that stipulates that mediation must now be considered before court proceedings can be commenced in family matters. Glynis is able to take instructions from couples directly if they do not have family lawyers acting for them or from lawyers who wish to refer their clients into mediation.
Glynis set up her own Leicester based niche family law and mediation practice in April 2011 at First Floor, 5 Bowling Green Street, Leicester. Since that time, Glynis has grown her practice so rapidly that she now employs two other highly qualified family lawyers namely Sushma Kotecha and Gayle Rowley. Sushma is also a family law mediator. Glynis employs 7 staff in total and her practice is continuing to grow. Where the practice once ran from the first floor offices in 5 Bowling Green Street, the firm has now expanded to take over the whole building and is the fastest growing family law practice in Leicester if not the Midlands.
Notwithstanding this rapid growth, Glynis maintains a reputation for being one of the most approachable divorce lawyers on the family law circuit who is able to adapt and work equally well with both male and female clients who often have very differing expectations of what they need from their divorce lawyer.
