Glynis graduated from
Leicester University in 1984 with a BA (Hons) in English and
Philosophy and then entered local government most latterly
working in the field of economic development.
Glynis
decided that she wished to become a lawyer and took the
decision to return to University in 1999 where she undertook
a conversion degree course at De Montfort University in
Leicester followed by the Legal Practices Course. She
completed the LPC with multiple Distinctions and was awarded
the special status of “Student of the Year” by the Law
Society for having achieved the highest marks for her
academic year at De Montfort University.
Glynis completed her practical
training as a Solicitor with a long standing Leicester based
firm and specialised in family law from the outset. At the
time she joined the firm, it handled a small number of
private family law cases. Within 2 years, Glynis had grown
the department to a large caseload specialising in divorce
and finance settlements, cohabitation breakups and contested
contact and residence cases involving children.
Increasingly, Glynis handled
Pre-nuptial Agreements
and
Living Together Agreements. Within
2 years of qualifying as a Solicitor in 2003, Glynis was
invited to become a Partner in the firm running the family
law department. Around 90% of Glynis’ work comes from word
of mouth recommendations. Her reputation is founded on a
total commitment to her clients and a high standard of
service delivery. Her philosophy is to ease the anxiety and
turmoil of divorce and relationship breakups by being
approachable and friendly whilst offering the best legal
advice to her clients.
Glynis believes that dispute
should be resolved by negotiation rather than court
proceedings where possible and is aware that protracted
proceedings represent a cost to her clients emotionally and
financially. She does all that she can to settle matters
swiftly and without acrimony for her clients.
In line with this philosophy, Glynis determined to add to
her skills and repertoire and qualified as a family mediator
with Resolution in May 2010. Glynis had anticipated that
family mediation would be heralded as the best way forward
for families in crises due to marital or cohabitation break
ups and so it has transpired to be with a new government
backed protocol being introduced as of 6 April 2011 which
stipulates that mediation must be considered before court
proceedings can be commenced in family matters. Glynis is
now able to take instructions from couples wishing to
resolve their problems through family mediation as well as
individual clients who need an excellent divorce lawyer to
look after them.
At the end of March 2011, Glynis made the decision to set up
her own Leicester based niche family law and mediation
practice. As of the 4 April 2011, Glynis is proud to
announce that she is the sole proprietor of her own practice
located at First Floor, 5 Bowling Green Street, Leicester. Glynis’
practice is already thriving since Glynis has carried with
her an existing caseload of loyal clients from her previous
firm and all of the expertise and skills that she has
developed in family law matters over the past 9 years.
